Treasurer
The Treasurer:
- Is the township's agent for collecting taxes
- Must maintain accurate records of all income, receipts & disbursements
- Issues township checks
- Deposits township revenues in approved depositories
- Invests idle township funds in approved investment vehicles
- Collects delinquent personal property tax
- Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting property tax
- Collects mobile home specific tax
- Must appoint a deputy
- Must post a surety bond
In case of absence, sickness, death or other disability of the treasurer, the deputy treasurer has all powers and may perform all duties of the treasurer, except voting on the township board.
